Worth the Hype?

I finally made the trip over to my local public library and was amazed to find that this little guy was not checked out.

I've had this on my reading list for a while and it's always checked out.  I actually have no idea what this book is about, but I've been hearing people talk about it....A LOT.  The last book I read was Elizabeth Gilbert's Committed and honestly...it sucked.  I hated it, but I read it because everybody was talking about how great it was.

Is this the same?  Should I even waste my time?  Is this the greatest book you've ever read?  I am in need of some serious reading rainbow guidance!

  1. It is so good, I promise!! Just give it a chance. The first 50 or so pages drag a little and it takes some adjusting to get used to the foreign names. But the story is really captivating.

As for Elizabeth Gilbert? Ick. I freaking hated Eat, Pray, Love. What a waste of my time to even try and read that book.

  2. I read this and the 2nd one! You do have to give it a chance & even if you aren't enjoying it at first, you probably will eventually. I enjoyed the 1st more than the 2nd one though, so I haven't decided whether to read the 3rd. What book should I read over Thanksgiving???

  3. I always feel like the books recommended to me by books lists and talk show hosts never live up to expectations. :(
