Weekly Work It Out

I'm majorly trying to get in shape for the holiday season, so from now on every Monday I'll be posting my workouts.  I'm trying to hold myself more accountable for my workouts, so these posts may be kinda boring but at least I'll be getting my butt off the couch......hopefully.

So far I've been able to get up and workout for the past 3 weeks, so it's pretty much normal routine now.  All of these workouts I have on my Netflix instant stream, so it's easy for me to get to them.

We'll see how it goes....

Menu Sunday

Thanksgiving is over and we're back to our normal eating routine.  This is what we'll be having this week:

Mon: Chicken Parmesan Bake
\

KB loves chicken parmesan, but I'm not a big fan.  It's always too saucy and seems weird and gooey.  I'm hoping the croutons in this one will make it crispier instead of nasty.

Tues: Slow Cooker Beef and Broccoli

I really like Asian buffet food, but I can't really eat at them because I always end up with a major headache afterwards.  No cheesy Asian buffet is really worth it in my opinion.  I try to recreate the Asian buffet dishes and most of the time fail.  This one looks pretty easy and I'm going to load up on the broccoli since it's my favorite part.

Wed: Frittata with Pepperoni and Basil

I really love frittatas and egg casseroles.  They are easy to make and they taste really good even at dinner time.  I still have some left over pepperoni from a few weeks ago (I hope it's still good....that stuff doesn't really go bad, does it?) and I needed something to use it up.  The recipe calls for fennel seeds, but I really hate fennel, so mine will just be pepperoni and basil.

Thurs: Crock Pot Honey Lentils

I am really excited about these.  I'm a big lentil fan and the honey sounds really good.  KB saw me looking at these yesterday and is already not a big fan, but he'll make do....or eat a frozen pizza.

What goodies are you cooking this week???

Saturday Randoms

I saw on Pinterest where you could take the white ends of green onions and grow them.  I was a little skeptical, but it worked!  I'm using up some of my home grown onions in some roasted potatoes today.  Please disregard the weird out building I get to look at while doing my dishes.  I'm not even sure what's in there.

I made some delicious spa water today.  It has grapefruits, lemons, strawberries and mint.  I'm having a cup now and it's delicious, but a little heavy on the grapefruit.

I made some strawberry fruit rolls ups in the dehydrator today using leftover strawberries that I froze.  It ended up running off of the dehydrator tray thingy into the bottom of the dehydrator and all over my stove.  It looks like a bottle of Pepto had exploded all over my house.

I did this workout yesterday and I feel like I'm going to die today.  My arms are so sore that I can barely move them, but that's a good thing.  I definitely ate way too much over Thanksgiving so I've got to get back in the habit.  The workout was a little old, but it definitely got me sweating and the instructor was really cool.  Normally they really get on my nerves, but she didn't talk that much.

I'm going to see KB's band play tonight.  I have to hear them practice, so nothing will really be new, but I like to go support him when I can.  I've been going to bed around 9:30 every night so it may be a challenge to stay awake.  It's just the old lady in me that can't take the night life.

Oh Come All Ye Thankful

I posted this exact same things on Thanksgiving last year.  Nothing has really changed and I'm still thankful for all of these people.

Here are the people I'm thankful for today:

My little KB!  Even though he hunts, fishes and does other random outdoor man things too much, he's still the best.  I'm proud to be Mrs. Brown, even though it's quite possibly the most boring name in the world.

Mi padre.  He's the best dairy farmer I know....true he's one of the only dairy farmers I know. Always the jokester, I'm pretty sure he can put a smile on anyone's face.

This is a two-fer! First up, my lovely momma!  She's little, she's feisty, and according to KB she's "handsy".  If you've been in her house for two seconds, you're probably getting a hug and a kiss when you leave.

Second, my friends!  Even though we're scattered all over the country (and the world really) now, we can still come together and it is like nothing has happened.  I can't wait to have a little get together this winter with all of them!

My sisters.  True over the years I have slapped them, tried to break both of their legs, kicked them, bitten, hit, scratched...you get the picture (I was a violent child), but now that we're older and wiser the biting has stopped.  Now they just have to worry about their little hellions doing the same.

Last, but certainly not least, is my crazy grandmother.  She's probably one of the weirdest old women that I know, but we love her anyway.  She's loud, she speaks her mind, she takes a ham and a pound cake on every vacation, but I'm really not sure what we'd do without her.  Also, please excuse the lovely 'kini shot in the background.  This was a rather eventful beach trip.

What are you thankful for?

Guilty Pleasure

I just can't.....stop......listening....

Why can't KB be a cool bad boy criminal for a day with no jail time or consequences?

Menu Sunday

This week is a little weird in the Brown household.  Thanksgiving, KB's off work and hunting everyday, lots of random cooking to do.....so the recipes are going to be a little lackluster.  Get ready.

Mon: Mexican Corn Dip

I love all kinds of dips and anything Mexican, so this should be a winner.  I'm also going to try to space out my Thanksgiving cooking, so I'll probably make one of those dishes on this night too.

Tues: Cheesy Vegetable Chowder

I'll probably be making this in a regular soup pot and not my crock pot...shocker!  I have some crab I may add in since it was majorly on sale at the grocery store.  I'm also interested in using up some turnips.  KB's grandparents gave us a ton yesterday so I'm looking for ways to use them.

Wed:  Thanksgiving meals.  I'm not cooking because I have other cooking to do.  Like these...

What will you be eating this Thanksgiving week?

Saturday Stuff

It's been a busy Saturday....

Obviously this isn't me....because I'm not a dude.  I'm also not an Olympic caliber skeet shooter, but I did get some practice in today.  I never shot the target....at all.  Even when the target was a piece of cardboard and I was shooting a .22 pistol from 10 feet away.  KB's family always shoots guns the afternoon after Thanksgiving dinner, so I think KB is just trying to make me a little better so we have a chance of beating his brother and his girlfriend this year.

Made my own pumpkin spice coffee creamer from here.

I also made some pumpkin spice syrup, but I forgot to take a picture of it.

I also made these pumpkin cinnamon rolls from Meg at Henning Love.  They are oh so delicioso.

I combined everything into a nice little snack for KB.  He said everything was delicious.  It took me all day to make everything, so he is a very smart boy for lying to me if it wasn't.

Thoughts on a Thursday

I'm linking up with Carolyn today for Thoughts on a Thursday.

  • Work is majorly sucking right now.  I'm so busy that I come home and feel like I've been hit by a car.  When I'm at work I have so many things happening that my head is spinning all the time.  I need Thanksgiving break to come on....NOW.

  • I got one of these catalogs in the mail today.
I used to love looking at these as a kid and all the cool treats they have in there.  I've never actually ordered anything from there, but everything looks so neat.  It may taste terrible, but at least it looks cute.

  • I made this last night and it was seriously one of the best things I think I've ever made.  It was fun to eat and tasted like really good pizza.  The trick is the butter and garlic on the bread.

  • Due to my crazy work schedule, falling asleep on the couch at 8, working on stuff from home and just general blah-ness, I've only done 1 real work out this week.  I've done yoga in the morning every day but nothing to really make me sweat.  Needless to say this weekend I will be looking for a kick my ass workout that will make up for my lack of sweating..
  • I finished up my last book from the library a few days ago and haven't been home in time to get a new one.  Any suggestions?  I just finished reading this..

What are your thoughts today???

Not so thankful

I'm not so thankful for these guys...

who decided to post up in our backyard last night and howl at each other all night long.  Little Panchie wanted to join pretty badly, so he decided to join in the chorus from our bedroom.

I may be passing out on my desk at work today.

Menu Sunday

Here's what we will be eating this week...

Mon: Tomato Tortellini Soup

I've never been a huge tortellini fan because normally they are really expensive and I just can't justify the cost. They happen to be on sale this week so I'm going to splurge.  I think this will be a lot like the creamy tomato soup I made a few months ago, just with tortellini in it.

Tues: Italian Minestrone Soup in the Slow Cooker

I love the "A Year of Slow Cooking" blog and Stephanie always has the best recipes.  I'll be making stuff for mine and KB's company Thanksgivings on this night so I wanted something that I didn't really have to do anything.  I'll be subbing in ground turkey for the ground beef though.

Wed: Bloomin' Pizza Bread

I still have leftover pizza stuff from the pizza bites I made last week and this looks like a good way to use them up.  The sourdough baked with garlic and cheese alone would be delicious, but I have a ton of turkey pepperoni that I need to do something with.

Thurs: Garlic Pork and Noodles
I may end up making this with chicken instead and I'll definitely sub in Ramen noodles for the unon noodles.  My grocery store doesn't carry things that sound like unon, but they definitely carry Ramen.

Bonus Round: Broccoli Stuffing Casserole

I finally decided to make the broccoli stuffing casserole from last week's post.  It seems pretty easy and like it won't take up a ton of my Tuesday night.  I won't be eating it because I don't really like it, but my coworker will and that's the one she picked out.

What goodies will you be eating this week???
