Thoughts on a Thursday

I haven't blurted out random thoughts in a while, so here goes...

-It's my first week of completely working at home (I used to be able to every now and then at my old job) and I'm amazed at the amount of work I get done (both personal and professional) when I'm all by myself.  This week alone I've done all of my regular work, had 3 contractors out to look at our kitchen, deep cleaned a different room every day, kept up with laundry, and had dinner done by the time KB got home.  It's been pretty glorious.  I'm sure once I get up to speed with actual work though lots of the personal stuff will have to go away.

-KB has decided that he wants to go to law school (why I have no idea).  This would involve us moving at least 3 hours away from where we are now.  I'm not sold on the idea.....and he knows it.  I'm hoping that it will just go away.  He says he's tired of his job and he's bored with what he's doing.  I'm hoping he gets a new job soon and the law school idea dies a quick death.

-I"m in the process of decorating my office/closet room (pictures to come).  KB and his grandpa built me this huge corner desk.  We decided to stain it in the basement and then move it upstairs to my office.  Needless to say this desk weighs a million pounds and I was pretty sure I was going to die last night moving it.  We also had a slight issue fitting it through the door, but made it (after scratching the door and walls which will now have to be repainted).

-I got to spend some quality time with some lovely lady hens yesterday.  A friend of ours is going out of town for a few weeks and just moved close to us, so we're watching her chickens for her.  I get to keep all of the eggs and hopefully it will be good practice for when we get our own chickens (hopefully this spring).  We've got plans to build a log cabin coop like this one from Backyard Chickens that will use up a bunch of tress that KB has cut down.

Randoms

I've been doing lots of fun projects around the house, but I'm too lazy right now to take pictures of them. Updates coming soon with lots of ginger jars (who knew Goodwill was the best source around for ginger jars), really masculine paint colors, a big framed deer painting and much more.

So what if I've watched Pretty Woman two nights in a row. KB has been gone dealing with dramaz and it's a cute movie. Also, hello Richard Gere? I know you are old, but you look real good in that suit and I love me some Wall Street types. Just about nothin' is better than powerful men that know how to handle money and wear suits almost everyday. Rawr.

Something in our master bathroom is leaking into our laundry room ceiling.  There is a huge wet spot and we're probably going to have to rip out some drywall once we see what's leaking.  Of course KB isn't here to deal with it.  He just told me to shut the toilet off and he'd deal with it later.  Awesome.

I've been ramping it up on the treadmill recently.  I did an interval workout earlier today that was an hour and a half long.  It really wasn't that bad.  It looked terrible on paper and I thought I would give up pretty early on, but I stuck with it and it ended up going by really fast.

This show....let's discuss.

I love me some rednecks.  I married into a family that has a bunch of them (luckily KB is only a part time redneck when convenient).  I watched the first two episodes yesterday and they were hilarious.  It's super staged and you can tell that most of these kids have got some money from somewhere because of the sheer amount of 4 Wheelers and pick ups, but I really like it.  It's sort of like hanging out with my brother in law and his redneck friends over the summer - it's fun while you're doing it, but you're pretty glad you're not like that all the time.  One of the funniest people on there is Shain.  It goes without saying that my redneck brother in law shares the name, the weird stache, the accent where sometimes you need subtitles and the constant dip in the mouth.

We're  I'm in the process of choosing paint colors for our house.  Whyyyy is this so hardddd?  I got some samples today and painted a little bit, but it's so hard to figure out how it's going to look on a major scale.   I'm going for a dark green exterior, with an antique white trim and dark brown porch.  That's way harder to find than it sounds.

On Second Thought

After posting about my original New Year's goals and seeing every one else's goals, I came up with a couple more. So far so good on working out in the morning (I seriously feel amazing pretty much all day), so hopefully I can make these stick too.

Eat at least one salad per week.

On Monday I made a huge salad for dinner and it was amazing. I also had enough leftover to have salads for lunch most of the week. I want to try to branch out my salads and get some crazy ones in there. I just never really think about salad as a dinner food, but when you load it up with all kinds of good stuff it's really filling. I've been browsing around Pinterest for a while. These look particularly delicious:

Clean everyday.

Right now I don't really clean during the week besides the regular "put something back after you are done with it". I save up all of my cleaning for the weekends, but then sometimes it feels like I waste a whole Saturday with just cleaning. I need to get better about cleaning a little bit everyday. I've seen a bunch of cleaning "schedules" around, but I'm not sure I could stick with them. I need to just do it!

Drink/make more smoothies.

After working out yesterday morning for the first time I really wanted a smoothie. I was really hot and eating regular food didn't really sound good to me. I made one up with some frozen strawberries, regular oatmeal, milk and greek yogurt. It was amazing! I want to try to expand my smoothie aresenal for breakfast. These also look especially delicious:

Any extra resolutions on your part? I'm hoping I can stick to at least a few of these.

It's OK

It's OK....

-To fall asleep on the couch at 8:30 and wake up at 2:30 not knowing where you are.

-To drink 2 cups of hot chocolate after dinner....and then some green tea.....and then some hot Emergen C.

-To be super excited about getting packages...even though nothing in them is for me.

-To be almost done with my Christmas shopping!

-To hit your neighbor's mailbox with your car and rip off your side mirror.

-To expect KB to fix said broken side mirror even though he didn't do it.

-To watch every episode of Catfish on MTV. Such a weird and sad show.

-To want a whole new wardrobe. I'm over every piece of clothing I own.

-To want to be a stay at home mom.....to my dogs.

-To want to eat a big fat cheeseburger, even though your head is so stopped up you can't taste it.

What's OK with you today?

Link up and find out!

Thankful Thursday

I'm jumping on the bandwagon and throwing some things out there that I'm thankful for today.

Link up with Lovely Little Whimsy to play along.

a punk, a pumpkin and a peanut

My sweet little babies - They were so good this morning and didn't put up a fuss when we left at all. They were also really sweet and laid in bed with me this morning when I didn't want to get up.

KB - He drove me to work this morning and is coming to pick me up.

Green Tea - You are so warm and delicious this morning. I got really cold coming into work and you warmed me right up.

Pretty weather - it's been so gross here lately and it's finally going to be sunny and somewhat warm for this time of year.

What are you thankful for today???

Thursday Randoms...

It's been a random week.

It snowed on Monday and Tuesday, so going to work was weird because no one was there. Then it was Halloween and everyone was jacked up. We only got one trick or treater and it was really late. I was messing around with KB (in the biblical sense) when our neighbor kid stopped by for some Jolly Ranchers. Needless to say it was a bit awkward. That should teach us for leaving our porch light on during Halloween.

I did score these yesterday off of Craigslist....

I got them for $30 for both - what a steal! I'm hoping to pick them up tomorrow if I can ever track this lady down. Hopefully she doesn't flake out on me.

I'm planning on cleaning them up and then painting them black or dark brown. We have a black bench on our front porch now, so I want something that will match with that. Something like this...

I also ordered a steam mop last week and I should have it when I get home this afternoon. I got it off of Amazon for only $25, so hopefully it doesn't crap out on me right after I get it. The reviews seemed like it was a pretty good one. It's a Sharper Image one.

I've never had a steam mop before, but hopefully it helps with the pee smell in our basement.

I painted my nails a matte black color yesterday. I feel like a real goth today.

Currently...

Listening...to some weird alternative music from the local radio station.

Eating...Nothing now because I just ate a TON of really good pizza for lunch.

Drinking...Peppermint tea.....because of said ton of pizza.

Wearing.....a black long sleeve dress, black and grey wedges, and a silver hoop necklace. I've been told that I look dressed up by 5 different people today. I just threw stuff on...oh well.

Feeling... Sleepy. I ate a ton of pizza and got to bed late last night.

Weather.....bright and sunny, but windy and chilly

Needing... to wash my hair. I didn't have time to wash it this morning so it's feeling a little greasy.

Wanting....to get my wedding ring back! It's getting fixed and has been for over a week. Come on people.

Thinking....that I'd really like to get a big fake knock off Michael Kors chronograph tortoise shell watch. Or a knockoff David Yurman bracelet.

Enjoying....being able to leave work a little early and get a good workout in. I was out last night and didn't get to workout.

Currently....

I decided to do a little post ala Katie Perk.

Listening...SkyFall by Adele.  I love me some James Bond movies and songs.  This one sounds especially 60s esque.

Eating...a pear with a sharp cheddar cheese stick.  Perfection.
Drinking...red antioxidant green tea with strawberries and hibiscus.  Fancy.
Wearing.....brown dress pants and flats, a white t shirt, blue pashmina and fun cameo necklace from the Shabby Apple.
Feeling... Confused.  My wedding ring broke in half and I lost some of the diamonds.  I'm trying to figure out whether to fix or it just start over.  I'm meeting with a jeweler later today.
Weather.....Chilly, but sunny.
Needing...a haircut.  I'm still trying to grow my hair out to be really long, but it's getting skanky looking.  I feel like I look like Trishelle from the Real World with black hair.
Wanting...to leave work now.  Mitt Romney is speaking right next door to our office.  I'm leaving at lunch, but I'm sure the crazies (on both sides) will be out in force by then.  I got stuck in traffic when Joe Biden was here last week for over an hour.  Seriously people, Asheville is one of the most liberal towns in the nation - I think we all know who's going to carry it.
Thinking....that my husband is very cute.  KB is such a super hottie.  I'm a very lucky lady.
Enjoying....that I'm going to get a lot of errands ran this afternoon before leaving work.  I have to stop by the library, the jeweler, the tax office and the post office.  Luckily I work downtown and can walk to all of these.

Thoughts on a Thursday

It's been another hellacious week this week, so there's lots of thoughts in my mind, they're probably just really  boring to you!

Here are some non-boring thoughts:

- I'm so ready to be here:

Work has been crazy busy and stressful for the past few weeks and I can't wait to be on a lovely little island with just my favorite people.  We pushed our trip out about a month this year and it is draggginnnggg.  Only a couple more weeks!

-I'm thinking about doing a really crazy fun manicure/pedicure for the beach.  I want a crazy neon color.  What are some good options?  I've been looking at OPI's neon collection, but I don't know if I want to go that crazy.

- I've been zoning out to lots of mindless TV recently.  This is a recent fave...

-I've been drinking lots of this.  It's probably terrible for you, but it tastes amazing and only costs 60 cents for a whole bottle.

-I really want to see this movie when it comes out.  I always think movies about drugs are so interesting.  Drugs, Inc is one of the most interesting shows on TV.  It's just crazy to see how huge drug cartels work.  I'm also really liking Salma Hayek's character in this movie - she looks pretty badass.

Thoughts on a Thursday

I've got lots of random things banging around my head today.  Enjoy!

I got a fun little target beauty goodie bag in the mail this week.  Mine looks like this:

So far I haven't used anything but I want to try out the Simple face wipes first.  I got a sample of Simple face wash a while ago and it works really well.  At this point I have enough beauty samples to probably last me for a year or two.

All of our flowers in our yard are blooming!  My irises, peonies and roses are starting to bloom.  The yard is still a mess so it's kind of weird to see all the flowers peeping out from the weeds and brush.  If I was really crafty I'd turn my peonies into a beautiful bouquet like this.  Too bad I'm not crafty.

Keeping up with the other wholesome TV shows that I watch, I've been checking out My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding.  These people are in the foothills of WV and VA.  That is not that far from where we live.  We could have American gypsies right here!  The next time I see a trashy looking teenager getting her nails done in Wal-Mart I will mos def be on the lookout for a TLC crew.

I'm thinking of recreating mine and KB's wedding photos.  Get ready.

Thoughts on a Thursday

It's time for my random Thoughts on a Thursday....

  • Most of my thoughts are centering around our slackass loan officer.  Seriously - don't even try to do business with BB&T.  Everyone tells me that she'll pull it out in the end, but if we don't close by the end of March our sellers have almost told us that the deal is off.  We're scheduled to close by the 26th, but everyone seems to think it will come down to the wire and will probably get pushed to even later than the end of March.  She never returns a phone call or an email.  our insurance company has been waiting on her to fax 1 sheet of paper for almost 5 days.  She better get her ass in gear.  Has anybody else had these issues?  HELP!  This is seriously all that I'm thinking about these days.
  • I picked up some goodies at Ulta yesterday.  I finally used my birthday gift card from my sister and got these...

Ever used any of these?  The shampoo was on clearance for $3 so I don't have high hopes for it.

  • I keep seeing all these cute bathing suits on Pinterest and I want to go somewhere tropical.  We're going to the beach with my family this year, but don't have any tropical vacations planned.  I'm not going anywhere that you might even need a bathing suit until the middle of July.  Gross.

Seriously - get on my body and take me somewhere warm and sunny.

Thoughts on a Thursday

It's time for Thoughts on a Thursday!  Link up with Carolyn to play along!

  • I'm didn't really make any New Year's resolutions this year, but I'd like to drink more green tea and keep my house cleaner.
Green tea is supposed to be amazing for you and I need some of the amazingness in my life.  I'm trying to drink 3 cups a day during the week.  I've bought a stash to keep at my desk at work.  Hopefully this will make me do it.  Look at all those benefits!

I'm also wanting to keep my house cleaner.  We're generally pretty clean, but I don't do really any picking up or clean up throughout the week except running the dishwasher and a load of laundry mid week.  I feel like I spend most of my Saturday cleaning up my house and I hate it.  I'm going to try to do more preventative cleaning throughout the week so I don't really have to do anything on Saturday and then follow this schedule for deep cleaning once a month.  We'll see how it goes.

  • It's my birthday on Sunday.  I'll be whole quarter century!  It's weird to think that I'll be 25.  I better be getting one of these for my birthday (hint hint darling sister):
  • A friend of mine gave me this Wii game to try out.  So far it's really cool and fun.  I'm doing the 6 week challenge and so far it's not really that hard.  I'm hoping it gets a little harder so I don't waste my time. You basically work out 4 times a week for six weeks.  I normally do something 5-6 days a week so I'll probably keep that up and do stuff on my off days.

Thoughts on a Thursday

It's time for Thoughts on a Thursday!

Link up with Carolyn to play along.

  • I can't believe it's December already!  We haven't even started our Christmas shopping and I feel like everyone else is already done.  I've at least made a list of what we're getting everyone, where we're getting it and how much it costs - so I feel like at least part of the battle has been won.

  • I've been deviating from my posted workout plan a little bit.  One of my friend's gave me this DVD and I've been doing it every day.
So far I've only done the 15 minute workouts, but they really do work you out in such a short time.  By the time they're over I'm sore and sweating - which is really hard to do in 15 minutes.

  • I've gotten into drinking tea at night.  It's pretty cold in our house because I'm neurotic about the thermostat, so I mostly drink it to stay warm.  I'm thinking about making these this weekend to eat with my nightly sleepy tea.

  • I still haven't ordered my Christmas cards.  I can't find a picture of KB and I that I really like or that doesn't look weird.  I'm thinking this one, but it was taken in warm weather.  Is that weird to have on a Christmas card?
I'm also thinking of maybe taking one of the dogs sleeping and putting it on some sort of "silent night" card.  I'm having a hard time catching them asleep.  Pancho always wakes up and sniffs the camera and Rosa just looks at me with her weird lazy eye.

Thoughts on a Thursday

I'm linking up with Carolyn today for Thoughts on a Thursday.

  • Work is majorly sucking right now.  I'm so busy that I come home and feel like I've been hit by a car.  When I'm at work I have so many things happening that my head is spinning all the time.  I need Thanksgiving break to come on....NOW.

  • I got one of these catalogs in the mail today.
I used to love looking at these as a kid and all the cool treats they have in there.  I've never actually ordered anything from there, but everything looks so neat.  It may taste terrible, but at least it looks cute.

  • I made this last night and it was seriously one of the best things I think I've ever made.  It was fun to eat and tasted like really good pizza.  The trick is the butter and garlic on the bread.

  • Due to my crazy work schedule, falling asleep on the couch at 8, working on stuff from home and just general blah-ness, I've only done 1 real work out this week.  I've done yoga in the morning every day but nothing to really make me sweat.  Needless to say this weekend I will be looking for a kick my ass workout that will make up for my lack of sweating..
  • I finished up my last book from the library a few days ago and haven't been home in time to get a new one.  Any suggestions?  I just finished reading this..

Thoughts on a Thursday

It's time for my Thoughts on a Thursday...

  • I've been asked by more than a few people what I want for Christmas already.  It's barely November and I'm already having to think about this.  So far the only thing I know that I really want is a monogrammed necklace.  I like the ones from Moon&Lola but they are so huge.  I don't want to wear some huge gold scrolly thing all the time.  I like these:
I could get the "Lucky" replaced with my monogram and have pennies for the year I was born and the year we got married.  It's a thought.  Other than that I have no idea.

  • It's been so chilly here this week and for the most part of the week I was subsisting on saltines so I've been drinking lots of tea.  I used to drink tea all the time, but then I got my Keurig and moved into coffee.  I've been downing this with lots of honey recently....
It's the bomb.  It could also be why I've been in bed by 9 every night this week (and by 8:30 last night).  Even KB is starting to make fun of me.

  • Speaking of KB - he is just the best boy around.  He took care of me even when I was a puking, crying mess (multiple times!) and to top it all off he's a super hottie.  Lucky me!
I tried really hard to find a picture that didn't have a dead animal in it. Unfortunately really the only ones are at our wedding.  I figured a fish was better than a bloody deer, squirrel, coyote, bobcat, bear, turkey, etc.

What are your thoughts today?
